Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a Lehigh Acres man late Saturday night after, they say, he was performing doughnut maneuvers in a 7-Eleven parking lot near State Road 82 and Sunshine Boulevard. According to FHP, when troopers tried to stop the vehicle around 11:48 p.m., the driver fled within the parking lot rather than pulling over.
The driver then reportedly got out and threw his wallet under a tree in an attempt to hide his identity. Troopers recovered the wallet and identified him as 30-year-old Robins Wilky Alexandre. A search turned up cocaine concealed inside his boot, according to FHP. He now faces charges including fleeing and eluding, resisting without violence, street racing and stunt driving, tampering with evidence, cocaine possession, habitual revoked-license driving, and reckless driving.
The case is a reminder that Florida law allows a vehicle used in a racing or stunt-driving violation to be impounded for 30 business days on a first offense, even when the stunt happens in a parking lot rather than on a public road.
