The conduct of two Florida Highway Patrol troopers who responded to a pair of crashes involving former Assistant State Attorney Jessie Weissman is still being investigated, more than 18 months later. No charges were filed against Weissman, whose case was closed in August by Assistant State Attorney Hannah Potter, a prosecutor in Florida’s 10th Judicial Circuit. Potter closed the case before she received FDLE’s findings, which were submitted Dec. 13. The FDLE investigation focused on whether Weissman broke traffic laws and used her position as an assistant state attorney to avoid possible charges from the crash stemming from a bar crawl in Punta Gorda.
