The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating an inmate’s death at Charlotte Correctional Institution.  Brodrick Campbell, a 22-year-old Lehigh Acres man, was pronounced deceased on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Florida Department of Communications. 

No details were released about where or how Campbell died.  The Office of Inspector General for the Department of Corrections is assisting in the investigation, according to the statement. 

Brodrick was serving a three-year, three-month and nine-day sentence for a burglary and grand theft offense out of Lee County. 

This is the fifth death at the state prison in Punta Gorda this year. In April, Michael Diffenderffer died of natural causes, records show. FDLE is also investigating the deaths of Cesar Ruano, who died on May 29, and Antonio Kirkland, who died on July 10.The Departments of Corrections’ Office of the Inspector General is investigating the Aug. 17 death of Justin Rumbley.
