A young Punta Gorda woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday evening. The Florida Highway Patrol says that 19-year-old Casey Dankowitz was traveling on Sunset Boulevard when she lost control of the Ford F350 truck she was driving. The truck overturned into a ditch on the north shoulder. Dankowitz was killed; two passengers in the car, 20-year-old Jordan Jarvis of Punta Gorda and 21-year-old Nicolas Kreger of Port Charlotte, were injured and taken to lee Memorial Hospital. Jarvis’ injuries were minor while Kreger was more seriously hurt. The FHP says Dankowitz and Kreger were wearing seatbelts. It’s known if Jarvis was. The crash is under investigation.
