One person was killed and three people were injured in a car crash in Englewood. The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened around 5:10 on Saturday afternoon. According to troopers, 58-year-old Thomas Stapleton of Englewood was northound on South Oxford Drive and failed to stop at a stop sign at Dearborn Street. He collided with 45-year-old Denise Tapalaga, who was eastbound with her two sons on Dearborn. Stapleton’s car overturned, he was not wearing a seatbelt and died in the crash. Tapalago and her boys, nine and 11 years old, sustained serious to critical injuries and were taken to hospitals. They were all wearing seat belts. The accident remains under investigation.
