The Venice Fire Department was busy Thursday after a fire broke out at 836 Riviera St. on the island of Venice. Crews were called shortly after 5:15 in the evening where the house had some heavy smoke damage. The family and two dogs were able to make it out of the home safely. Venice Fire Chief Shawn Carvey said the fire started from a fire on a stove. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
