Police in North Port are investigating after someone allegedly sold fake gold bars to a local pawn shop. Police spokesman Josh Taylor told ABC-7 that it appears the case is only a civil matter, saying the the store owner knows who sold it to him. The owner told ABC-7 that the person who sold it to him still had it wrapped in plastic to preserve its perceived value. The owner himself initially thought it was real- the bar was stamped with serial numbers like a legitimate bar.
