Venice Elementary School will soon get a new School Resource Officer. Mayor John Holic made the proposal to allocate already existing police funds to increase police presence at Venice schools. The new funding would allow for a third citywide SRO- one full-time officer at the elementary school, one at the high school and one to float between the two and the local private schools. The Police Department hopes to have an officer hired and trained before the end of this school year.
