An email threat made to schools across Florida -including schools in Charlotte County- on Tuesday proved to be unfounded.

The county’s food service department received an email around 515 yesterday morning, threatening to blow up 40 schools across the state if the district did not “promote the sender’s group to area media within three hours.”

The email was traced back to a Canadian IP address- a search of schools countywide found no threat. Police say it was not valid.
