An 82-year old man was airlifted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital after a crash in Venice Saturday. A report from the FHP says Francis Pawlowski was driving west on Briarwood Drive near Coconut Drive, in the right lane, when he slowed to turn onto Coconut. Then, at the last minute, tried to make a u-turn to head back east on Briarwood. He was t-boned by 19-year old Jordan Gignillat’s Chevy SUV that was also heading westbound. At last check, the senior citizen was in critical condition. Gignillat was last reported in serious condition.
