ALLEN, N.Y. — A Florida man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing his two older brothers during a physical altercation at a hunting cabin in Allegany County.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) announced the arrest of Scot D. Thompson, 65, of Englewood, Florida, on Monday, November 24, following a deadly incident that occurred the day before. Thompson faces two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree criminal use of a firearm.

Fatal Altercation

New York State Troopers first responded to a disturbance call on Botsford Hollow Road in the Town of Allen on Sunday, November 23. Upon arrival, they discovered two deceased individuals.

Investigators later determined that the three brothers—Scot, Mark B. Thompson, 70, of Canterbury, Connecticut, and David E. Thompson, 69, of Port Charlotte, Florida—were staying together at the rural hunting cabin.

The investigation alleges that during a physical fight that broke out among the siblings, Scot Thompson used a rifle to fatally shoot his brothers, Mark and David.

Capture and Charges

Following the shooting, Scot Thompson reportedly fled the scene in one of his brother’s vehicles. The vehicle was later located by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and the Geneseo Police Department.

Authorities took Scot Thompson into custody without incident. He was transported to SP Amity for processing and is being held at the Allegany County Jail pending his arraignment.

The New York State Police confirmed that this remains an ongoing criminal investigation.
