Florida Closed Primary Voting & Early Voting Information
Florida is a closed primary state, meaning only registered party members can vote in their party’s primary elections, including the Presidential Preference Primary. Voters must be registered with a party 29 days before an election to participate in that party’s primary. To update your party affiliation, visit the Update Voter Information page.
Early Voting in Sarasota County
The Supervisor of Elections will announce early voting sites at least 30 days before an election. Early voting may be available at main or branch offices of the Supervisor, city halls, public libraries, civic centers, and government-owned senior or community centers. Registered voters must present valid photo/signature ID at early voting sites.
