Early Voting Opens in Lee, Charlotte and Hendry Counties: Sites, Hours and What’s on Voters’ Minds

Early voting is open across Charlotte, Hendry and Lee counties as of today. Voters can use any of twelve early voting sites from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and there’s no assigned precinct during early voting, so you can pick the location that fits your schedule. Lee County’s early voting runs through Saturday, October 31. DeSoto and Collier counties begin Thursday, and Glades County starts Saturday.

In Cape Coral, residents are already turning out, and their reasons vary. One voter said he’s backing voter ID and term limits for Congress and the Senate. Another said the mayor’s race brought him in, with parks and infrastructure on his mind. Amendment 3 and property taxes also came up as motivations.

The staggered start dates are worth noting. If you live in DeSoto, Collier or Glades, mark your calendar and check your county supervisor of elections website for site locations before you go. Early voting is a chance to skip the Election Day crunch and vote on your own time. Which local issue is most important to you this election season? Let us know on our Facebook page.
