Volunteers over the weekend called the annual seagrass survey in Sarasota Bay a success.
More than a hundred people turned out on Saturday to assist the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program in analyzing sea grass.
Volunteers went out snorkeling and kayaking in the bay, then, when they spotted different types of grass, used a smartphone app to input the data. Registered volunteers then helped identify the various species for the county’s Seagrass Monitoring Program.
