Beachgoers across Sarasota and Manatee counties saw some rather unusual sights this weekend- multiple dolphins stranded on the shore. The first incident happened Saturday afternoon at Turtle Beach. Those on the sand had already had to push dolphins back into the water multiple times before crews from Mote’s Stranding Investigations Program and the Sarasota Dolphin Research Program arrived. One dolphin did have to be euthanized. Later in the day, calls came in from Caspersen Beach in Venice of more stranded dolphins- again, beachgoers had to push them back into the water.
