A lost dog has been found and rescued after it had been missing for eight days.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says a kayaker spotted the dog, Rex, on a mangrove island in the Intracoastal Waterway. The dog had been reported missing more than a week earlier by his family in Venice.
After a lot of coaxing and prodding, deputies were able to get the 15-year old German Shepherd onto a boat and reunite him with his family.
