Storm survivors in the area can get storm recovery help this weekend in Punta Gorda. A Disaster Recovery Center will open Thursday, November 9 for four days only. Disaster Recovery Centers offer in-person support to individuals and small business owners. Recovery specialists from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the State of Florida will be available to provide assistance to anyone filling out their applications or updating their status. Voluntary organizations are available and offer a variety of services to help survivors recover. The center is at Carmalita Athletic Park in Punta Gorda. Hours are Thursday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
