The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one of its deputies, Carson Lee Plank, saying she lied to detectives during the criminal investigation surrounding ex-Deputy Frankie Bybee. Among the accusations against Bybee are that on January 12th, he broke into the home of a woman who said he had been harassing her, attacked her and tried to kill her. The sheriff’s office says Plank was one of the first deputies on the scene at the victim’s home and claimed she had not seen anything unusual and had not been in contact with Bybee, who had been placed on leave three days earlier. Later, Plank admitted to having photographed blood evidence at the scene and failing to submit it. The sheriff’s office says she then contacted Bybee to let him know what detectives had asked her. Plank is charged with providing false information to a law enforcement during an investigation.
