The Charlotte County School Board wants state lawmakers to consider a reduction in the frequency of standardized assessments, which it says are taking too much time away from teachers’ instructional time. The Sun reports that one of the legislative priorities that Board Chairman Ian Vincent will present today at a meeting of the Charlotte County Legislative Delegation. It’s being held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association on Shreve Street in Punta Gorda. Senaotrs Greg Steube, Denise Grimsley and Delegation Chairman Representative Michael Grant will also be hearing from other agencies, including the Charlotte County Commission and the Charlotte County Airport Authority.
