A report from the state Department of Children and Families says the parents of 20-month-old Ava Perry had fallen asleep when their daughter got outside and drowned in a canal.
Blood tests also showed both parents had marijuana in their systems, but DCF officials do not believe they were high at the time when she drowned.
Perry went missing from her North Port home around 10:15am last Tuesday. No charges have been filed.
