Traffic Alert: Crash on I-75 in Charlotte County
Florida Highway Patrol reports a crash on southbound I-75 at mile marker 174, near the Berkshire Street overpass.
A crane (Vehicle 1) and a tractor-trailer hauling an empty flatbed (Vehicle 2) were both traveling in the outside lane when the crash occurred. The tractor-trailer was moving at a slower speed with its hazard lights activated.
Despite a clear line of sight, the crane failed to reduce speed and collided with the rear of the flatbed trailer. The impact caused the crane to overturn, blocking all southbound lanes. Debris from the crash also led to a secondary collision.
Fortunately, no life-threatening injuries were reported. Emergency crews and FHP are on the scene, working to clear the roadway. Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes.
