The Florida Health Department has set up 1,600 more COVID-19 vaccinations for Sarasota and Charlotte Counties. As of now all those vaccinations have been scheduled for today, January 6th and tomorrow January 7th and no more will be available until the states set up more distribution sites. The state is working on sending more vaccines to the area.

Governor Ron DeSantis has signed Executive Order 20-315 which outlines that providers can only administer the COVID-19 vaccine to the following groups:

– Long-term care facility residents and staff.
– Persons 65 years of age and older.
– Health care personnel with direct patient contact.
– Persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by hospital providers.
