Charlotte County commissioners have figured out a way to put more money into beach renourishment at Manasota Key. On Tuesday, the commission voted to restructure the Stump Pass taxing unit for that purpose. Stump Pass is a major Englewood inlet between Lemon Bay and the gulf. The taxing unit was designed to help pay for dredging and management. It is being renamed the Integrated Shoreline Management Municipal Service Taxing Unit and will, in part, benefit beach renourishment. The assessment for the taxing unit won’t be set until next year.
