A convicted felon finds himself behind bars after police say he was spotted leaving the scene of an explosion.
Sarasota County Sheriffs Deputies were called to the 4600 block of Proctor Road over the weekend after an explosion was reported in an open field.
Nearby residents reported seeing 25-year-old Michael Schlabach walk up to a large drum container. The explosion occurred, and Schlabach then took off.
Police reported recovering a detonated mortar inside the jug. No injuries or damage was reported.
