Former Florida Congresswoman Corinne Brown was found guilty on Thursday of receiving money from a charity that was thought to give money to poor students through scholarships. Instead, Brown and an aide siphoned hundreds of thousands of dollars from a phony foundation to throw parties, take trips and go shopping. The veteran lawmaker was convicted on 18 charges, including tax-related items. Charges also include conspiracy, mail and wire fraud and tax fraud. She represented an area that includes Jacksonville. Sentencing is expected within 90 days.
