More problems between the city of Venice and Sarasota County, this time regarding park maintenance. An agreement that was put together between the parties was rejected by Venice City Manager Ed Lavallee due to the heavy burden it appeared the city of Venice would ultimately take on. The current agreement reads that the county pays $5,000 for park maintenance, while Venice bears the responsibility of scheduling recreational games at specific parks throughout the city. Lavallee believes the city of Venice would take on too much responsibility, financially and otherwise in the new agreement. The new agreement read that Sarasota County would be responsible for one park, Wellfield, and the city of Venice would maintain the rest.
