The city of Venice is set to close on a deal with a consultant that would monitor the city’s stormwater outfalls.

The monitoring plan was one of two steps that members of the city council authorized at an August meeting on different ways to stem red tide.

City officials say the deal with Taylor Engineering could be in place within the next couple of weeks.

Stormwater samples will be tested for 10 parameters, including bacteria, nitrogen, and phosphorous.
