An employee of the city of North Port has been placed on administrative leave after bing arrested for driving under the influence. 61-year-old Scott Williams is the Neighborhood Development Services Director of the city of North Port. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy observed Williams driving erratically and then failing to stop before the stop bar at a red light. The deputy attempted to pull him over at Hanchee and Tamiami Trail but he did not stop until Tamiami and Albee Road. A DUI unit found that Williams’ speech was slurred and the vehicle smelled of alcohol. An empty bottle of wine was found in the center console. Williams refused to perform the field sobriety and breath tests. He was taken without incident to the county jail.
