An ethics complaint has been filed against North Port Mayor Chris Hanks.
Hanks failed to recuse himself from a December vote that allowed Rich Suggs to propose a partially city-subsidized private economic development organization.
A North Port resident, Bill Goetz, says in the complaint that Hanks should have recused himself on the vote, because he and Suggs are business partners.
The motion ended up passing 3-2, with Hanks casting the deciding vote.
