The date of the “Venice Celebrates Circus” event was originally scheduled for Sunday, April 9th. But organizers say the date has been changed to Saturday, June 17th due to a conflict with the Shark’s Tooth Festival. The event is sponsored by Venice Area Historical Society and the Venice Institute for Performing Arts. Plans include an all-day community event at the Venice Performing Arts Center on the Venice High School campus, featuring: a free screening of the move, The Greatest Show on Earth, along with a short, live lecture on the history of the circus in Venice; a dinner/auction under the big top; a variety show featuring live circus acts; the Venice Concert Band; and the premier of the new documentary about the restoration of a Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus car, and its return to Venice.
