Student enrollment in Charlotte County Public Schools is down and that means some teachers and staff will have to go. The district has announced that it is planning to cut almost five percent of its teachers — some 47 positions. Also being let go, almost 15 percent of employees who work outside of the classroom. According to a news release, the positions to be cut will be identified by February 24th, to–quote–“give affected employees optimal opportunity to locate employment.”
