Sarasota County and Charlotte County emergency operations officials are set to meet this week to discuss operations and preparations ahead of the upcoming hurricane season.
One of the topics expected to come up is residents crossing county lines to seek shelter.
While Charlotte County has three hurricane shelters, none are in Punta Gorda. That led a number of people last year to find shelter in Sarasota County, putting a bit of a strain on personnel.
