Charlotte High School assistant football coach Justin Midgett is on paid administrative leave as investigators look into a fight that happened after a game last month between Charlotte and Port Charlotte High School. The game was decided on a last-second field goal, and when players and coaches met at midfield for the post-game handshakes, things went downhill. A video showed players being separated and fans yelling that their kids were being assaulted. In the fracas, Midgett was seen allegedly punching an opposing player. That’s according to a Punta Gorda police report filed where one parent alleged Midget jumped over an opposing coach to strike the player. Administrators said Midgett will stay on paid leave until the investigation with the Florida High School Athletic Association is complete.
