Charlotte County Warns of Utility Scam Calls Targeting Residents
July 30, 2025 | Charlotte County, FL
The Charlotte County Utilities Department is warning residents about a recent wave of scam phone calls from individuals posing as department representatives.
Officials say the callers are attempting to steal personal and financial information, including credit card and bank account details. The scammers are reportedly using “spoofing” techniques to make their calls appear as though they are coming from legitimate Charlotte County phone numbers.
The Utilities Department emphasizes that it does not request personal or financial information through unsolicited calls.
Residents who receive suspicious calls are encouraged to report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission. If you believe you’ve been targeted or victimized, contact the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at 941-639-0013.
