A Swatting Incident at occurred yesterday at FSW Punta Gorda Campus.Press Release Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office:
CCSO received a call stating that there was a bomb placed inside a classroom on the Florida Southwestern State college campus. The caller was extremely hard to understand and ultimately hung up on dispatchers. Return calls were attempted without success.
Members immediately arrived on scene closing down entryways while making contact with campus police. Our Intelligence Unit was able to quickly determine that the same number was used in various other college campus threats throughout Florida, which were all determined to be illegitimate.
Our deputies continued to clear the school making sure there was no viable threat and the scene was then cleared.
These types of threats are not a laughing matter and the safety of our community remains our top priority.
