At approximately 8:55pm on Friday, April 28, detention deputies discovered an inmate unresponsive in his cell. Lifesaving measures were initiated by medical and correctional personnel without success, and he was pronounced deceased from what appears to be a self-inflicted injury in his cell.
Despite the individual being housed in an open population pod (F Pod) and having a cellmate, there is no suspicion of outside involvement at this time.
The individual was facing narcotics and traffic charges.
Major Crimes detectives are currently conducting their investigation and further details will be available later today. The next of kin of the inmate have been notified of the incident.
