July 24, 2024 – Charlotte County, FL

Last night, at the annual Florida Sheriffs Association Summer Conference, Sheriff Bill Prummell was sworn in as the new FSA President.

The Florida Sheriffs Association was founded in 1893 as an organization to support the needs of the state’s law enforcement community. The not-for-profit organization enhances the unified efforts of the sheriffs from all 67 counties in Florida, empowering them to collaborate and discuss critical law enforcement-related issues with lawmakers. The organization also coordinates trainings, designates special task forces, and pushes for positive changes within the criminal justice system to better serve the people of Florida.

At the 2024 Annual Summer Conference, Sheriff Bill Prummell was sworn in as the new President – the organization’s 102nd – and will lead the FSA for the 2024-2025 program year. Sheriff Prummell takes the reins from Sheriff Bill Leeper of Nassau County, who gave a heartfelt farewell speech and glowing endorsement of Sheriff Prummell.

“I am honored by the trust this organization has shown in me and I promise to do my best to carry on the incredible work of those who came before me. I have said many times that there is nothing we cannot accomplish as long as we all work together, and I can’t wait to look back on those things a year from now and see our success. What a blessing it is for us to do this work in the great state of Florida.”

Sheriff Prummell was then given the podium where he gave an impassioned speech, noting the strength of the organization and addressed some of the challenges and opportunities that Florida sheriffs will face. He noted the importance of juvenile programs, such as the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, as well as items on the November elections ballot that could change the landscape of Florida forever. He then thanked the people in his life who have supported him and admitted that he never imagined himself in this position, but he vowed to work diligently to further the efforts of all sheriffs in Florida.
