Charlotte County Corrections Lieutenant Killed in North Fort Myers Motorcycle Crash

A Charlotte County corrections lieutenant was killed late Saturday in a motorcycle crash in North Fort Myers, according to local authorities.

Lt. William Garlick was riding home from his shift when his motorcycle collided with an SUV at the intersection of North Cleveland Avenue and Delft Avenue near Windmill Village. No other injuries were reported. Investigators in Lee County have not yet released additional details about the circumstances of the crash.

Garlick, a longtime member of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, was known throughout the agency as a dedicated public servant and a committed family man. Colleagues described him as a respected leader and a friend whose impact on the department will not be forgotten.

Charlotte County Public Safety also acknowledged the loss, noting that it is being felt throughout the county’s emergency services community. The agency described Garlick as someone whose compassion and care for others left a strong impression on those who worked alongside him.
