Less than 24 hours after the Charlotte County Sheriffs Office asked an anonymous tipster to come forward in a 24-year old cold case murder, officials say they now have a person of interest in the case.
Back in January of 1995, 42-year old Christine Flahive was killed after leaving her Punta Gorda home on her bike and never returning.
Police have named Jonathan Charles Payne as a person of interest- he was known to frequent the same bars as Flahive and had ties to an area recently searched by the sheriffs office.
However, police won’t be questioning Payne- he died nearly eight years ago.
