After the better part of 36 hours, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office detectives concluded the collection of evidence at a home on Rumford Street in Punta Gorda. Around 6:30 last night, the Sheriff’s Office sent out a press release saying that Rumford Street is once again open for travel and that the “home has been released.” The police investigation continues, with deputies only saying that they responded to the house “in reference to a woman suffering from serious injuries.” Details on her identity and nature of the injuries are not being disclosed at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.
