The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will pay special attention to traffic enforcement several locations beginning today and continuing through Sunday. Speed enforcement will be the focus in Port Charlotte on the entire length of St. Paul Drive and Nuremberg Boulevard. And deputies will be engaged in traffic light enforcement at US 41 (Tamiami Trail) and Kings Highway in Port Charlotte and South McCall Road and Gasparilla Road in Port Charlotte. According to the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, Charlotte County has 27 vehicle deaths so far this year; there were 21 deaths this same time last year.
