Charlotte County sheriff’s deputies have released new details about a double fatal hit and run crash that happened last year. Back on December 5th, two 21-year olds- Wesley Chery and Brittany Beni- died in a car crash at U.S. 41 and Harbor Boulevard. Initially, police thought those two were the only ones in the car at the time of the crash. But a newly released 911 tape shows the driver who crashed the car ran off, leaving his or her friends to die. A witness told dispatchers that “There are two passengers. I think he killed them… He probably ran away from the car because it’s smashed…this guy’s gonna get away with it.” A witness described the fleeing driver as a black male, between 20 and 30 years of age with balding or short hair. Anyone with information is asked to call the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
