The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has received word from a restaurant owner about a possible scam.
The owner says a man claimed a restaurant employee spilled food on him.
The owner also says the man had to get his clothing dry-cleaned, and he presented a bill for it.
The owner wrote a check to cover the bill.
Additionally, the owner has told the sheriff’s office that this man had entered other restaurants in Venice and Englewood and made the same false claims.
The sheriff’s office warns all business owners to watch out for this scam and similar ones.
