More than 80 car thefts and burglaries across five counties have apparently been solved with the arrest of a man and four teenage boys. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says a man out for a morning walk early Friday morning noticed several people trying to open car doors in the 600 block of San Lino Circle in Venice. The man said they left in a pickup truck that turned out to be stolen from St. Petersburg. Deputies gave chase and deployed stop sticks. They did not stop the truck, but the driver later lost control and crashed into a median on I-75. Four people inside the truck fled on foot but were eventually captured. They are suspected of crimes in Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Hernando and Sarasota counties.
