The Atlanta Braves are reportedly still considering a deal to locate their spring training complex in North Port. According to the Herald-Tribune, the Braves would be the sole occupants of the stadium. There had been interest from several other Major League teams in sharing the facilities, but they have made other arrangements. The proposed 100 million dollar baseball complex would be at the heart of the planned West Villages “town center” development on 100 to 150 acres near U.S. 41 and River Road. The Braves have trained at Disney’s Wide World of Sports since 1997, but that lease ends in 2019.
