The investigation continues into Saturday’s boating death near Stump Pass.

FWC says a man turned on his boat’s engine, but the throttle bounced and tossed his seven-year-old son into the propeller.

WINK-TV reports this happened in front of the boy’s 11-year-old brother.

Stuart Spode from FWC says the boy did not wear a life jacket at the time, but a life jacket in this instance would not have saved him.

FWC towed the family’s 20-foot boat into the marina. The boy died later at Englewood Community Hospital.
