The body of a woman was found in a canal in Punta Gorda Sunday morning. Police have since identified her as 74-year-old Berit Hennington, who lived on Sandpiper Drive. Hennington’s body was found in the canal behind a nearby residence on the same street. Punta Gorda police say nothing suspicious was found at the scene. The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.
