A serial boat motor thief seems to be making his way through Charlotte and Lee Counties. The latest case happened on Pine Island in Lee County on Tuesday morning. Workers at the Island Crab Company near Saint James City reported several outboard motors missing off crabbing boats. Since the start of September, police in Cape Coral have said 11 motors have been stolen within city limits. That’s all in addition to a burglary at the Gulf Coast Marine Center in Port Charlotte, where someone stole three Yamaha motors from their boats as well. Law enforcement has not yet said if they think these cases are connected.
