A fallen Orange County Sheriff’s deputy was remembered Monday by hundreds of people who turned out for his funeral at Murdock Baptist Church in his native Port Charlotte. Deputy First Class Norman Lewis was killed in Orlando last week when his motorcycle was hit by a van as the manhunt for a suspected cop killer was getting underway. The 6-5, 300-pound Lewis was known to friends and co-workers as “Big Norm” and “The Gentle Giant.” He was also given a funeral in Orlando Sunday, where Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said–quote–“Norm died doing what he loved–helping others.”
