The bidding for a nearly $6 million project to refurbish Venice Ave. closes early next month. According to the city of Venice’s engineering department, outside analysis showed the facelift could be done in as little as 240 days. City engineer Kathleen Weeden told ABC-7 crews will be working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to redo all of downtown’s drainage systems, roads, and sidewalks. Venice Main Street says they plan to do a number of various promotions so people know the businesses will still be open during construction. Once a contractor is chosen, work will likely begin in April, and be done by December.
